AF lounge Tegel

We got bumped off the flight on Friday as Air France overbooked the
flight due to bad weather. We hopefully will get on the flight now 24
hours later. They upgraded us to business class and I plan to claim
compensation under the EU directive for denied boarding @ 600 eur per
person.

End of holiday

All good things have to come to an end and so does our holiday. We just found out by pure chance that our return flight has been cancelled and we are on another flight a few hours earlier but still have to confirm with AF when they open.

No Internet

We are having a great time in Florida but as no Internet is available
at our resort we cannot communicate much. Have been through two failed
space shuttle launch attempts and will try again on Wednesday from my
best spot in Titusville.

Live Oak, Florida

This is just a stop over on our way to Orlando. Tomorrow still have 180 miles to do. We stop here so that we do not have so much to cover tomorrow as I want to drive to Cape Canaveral in the afternoon so that if everything goes to plan get to see the space shuttle launch from close.

Savannah 3

Today was our last full day in Savannah and we spent it exploring by foot and trolley bus guided tour the historic district. Yesterday we were not so sure but today Savannah has really grown on us and it is a fascinating city, raw in places and also spooky but it is the real thing. Tomorrow morning we are heading off to Atlanta where we will stay for a week with our family.

Savannah 2

Today we had our first day in Savannah. We did a walk down River Road which runs along the Savannah river and than we took a river boat cruise through the harbour. Whilst quite interesting and genuine from what we have seen so far Savannah does not come near the glory of Charleston. Some people are already in 4th of July mode. Tomorrow we will take a ride through the historic district and maybe we change our minds.

Charleston 3

Today we visited the Patriots Point Maritime & Naval museum where we went on-board an aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (Helmut, you would have liked the aircraft) and a submarine USS Clamagore. In the afternoon we visited another famous mansion in Charleston historic area, the Aiken-Rhett mansion.
